Are You Ready to Make Your Demo?

So, you’re thinking to yourself “I want to get a demo reel to kick off my voice acting career, but how do I know when I’m ready?” First is having the acting chops. Once you’ve achieved that, that’s where you need the business information.

The five main questions you should ask yourself to assess demo readiness are:

  1. Why do you need a demo? You need industry and business knowhow to market your acting ability.

  2. Do you know what you want in your demo? Knowing your acting strengths and weaknesses is paramount. Show the strengths!

  3. Can you act under pressure? You need to be able to perform to the highest degree, even when you have a room full of people staring at you.

  4. Do you have equipment to record? Remote recording is an all-time high, so having your own equipment and quality audio is mandatory.

  5. Have you gotten a second opinion from a decision maker? Art is founded on interpretation, so getting many valuable opinions is great!

Keep asking yourself questions to assess how you can add value with your voice acting. Additionally, for more in depth information on these topics: https://www.voicescarey.com/how-to-know-youre-demo-ready
